Winter clouds hang low above Whitehorse Trail east of the Oso Slide Memorial. State Route 530 is to the right of the trail. The trail runs atop the historic rail bed of the Northern Pacific Railway, known as the Whitehorse Express, that carried lumber and people from Darrington to Arlington. The Whitehorse Express was named for Whitehorse Mountain, which was named for a white horse owned by the first postal worker in Darrington around 1900. January, 2021.
